First in Flight

Women In Aviation

The First in Flight chapter of Women in Aviation (WAI) is based in Charlotte, North Carolina. We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation career fields and interests.

We strive to encourage, empower, and educate all those whose interests, lives, and work involve aviation and aerospace without regard to race, ethnicity, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, physical or mental abilities, or point of view. We know with certainty that our shared passion for aviation transcends any differences among us.

Encourage

The First in Flight chapter offers support and resources to inspire and encourage young women to pursue a career in aviation. We cultivate a motivational and supportive culture that encourages each other to advance our careers, enhance our professional development, and attain personal achievements. We are thrilled to have a dynamic community of members from different backgrounds, bringing unique perspectives to the chapter. This provides us with endless opportunities to learn from each other, expand our networks, and discover exciting new avenues in aviation.

Empower

Women In Aviation International (WAI) is a diverse community of aviation professionals committed to empowering one another through mentorship, education, and connection. From astronauts to airline pilots, and engineers to air traffic controllers, our members inspire and support each other to achieve their goals and reach their full potential in the industry. Through mentorship opportunities and educational initiatives, we strive to create a more inclusive and supportive environment that empowers women to pursue and excel in aviation careers.

Educate

The First in Flight chapter is dedicated to advancing aviation education through outreach programs that inspire and educate the next generation of industry professionals. Our initiatives target students, aviation industry members, and young people, providing them with interactive and unique learning experiences that foster a deeper understanding of the aviation field. Our flagship program, the annual Girls in Aviation Day, offers a fun and engaging way for young girls to explore the diverse facets of aviation education.
